What if you could test your response to a disruptive innovation, like AI —before it hits your industry?
The latest game I’m working on with Cranfield University is one that allows executive clients to test their methodologies for reacting to disruptive innovation in their sector. The Health Sector is the first sector that I am developing this game for, poignant I think, at a time when the NHS is under strain. They are also facing the challenges of new players on the block offering remote diagnostics, big data reliance, genetic profiling, and AI integration. This game will offer the perfect testing ground for decision-makers to explore the possible futures they might soon face.
What this game provides is a safe place for players to test their reactions to innovative disruption.
By creating an in-depth world of Non-Playable Characters (NPCs), players navigate a timeline of events in a theoretical future. Leveraging AI’s ability to analyse and process text and data quickly, I created realistic scenarios, based on historical case study data and present-day theories such as Clayton Christensen’s Disruptive Innovation Theory.
Good games take time, but to speed up production, this game will be leveraging a lot of the tech base we have previously developed for such games as FutureSCAPE and K2. This means it will utilise the lobby feature we created using mutually-exclusive based code to allow simultaneous user connection (learn more about our Mutex solution on the FutureSCAPE page), as well as multi-screen display for in-room immersion and mobile interactivity.
What I Still Need To Do
Game Design
- Finalise the User interface (UI)
- Finalise the User Experience (UX)
- Test the scoring metric
- Ensure key details are based on data and not inference.
- Finalise all in-game visual assets (videos, audios, iconography, branding)
- Generate AI voice overs and videos
Technical Development
- Hand over to front-end developer
- Hand over to back-end developer
- Project manage development
- Run bug-testing sessions through my committee
Marketing and Launch
- Create marketing assets
- Design pitch deck
- Create website assets
- Collate train-the-trainer resources with academic
- Launch game
- Gather feedback
Have you ever created a complex game or business resource like this? I’d love to hear how you approached it and how long it took you. Also, let me know if you would like to stay updated with how this game progresses!
